Korg Monotron

Recently I bought a Korg Monotron synthesizer. Witch has a fully analogue circuit. And it also has the filter (only low pass)circuitry of the legendary korg MS-20! I can tel you; it sounds petty asome!

Because de Monotron has an analogue circuit it is not so hard to hack it. My intention is to add an MIDI input to the device so I can control it with my sequencer/DAW.

There are some ways to do that with your soundcard (i.e. the soundcard is programmed to send cv/gate signals to the synth). A great instruction for that can be found here.

The solution above is nice but I prefer something with a midi DIN input plug... So I was thinking to make something with an Arduino as base. I'm new to electronics and the Arduino platform is not to hard to learn. On youtube.com I found a guy who has managed to control the monotron with his arduino.

He also added some links with a schematic and code. I will be using this to start my monotron-midi-cv project. Yesterday I orderd the DAC (mcp4822) and got it in today (thanx farell)!  I will install the DAC this evening. I'll keep you informed!
